Metal Cartridge Reloading Course

COURSE GOAL

To provide beginning reloaders with the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely reload metallic cartridges. During the class, students will use reloading equipment to produce functioning ammunition and then go to the range to shoot that ammunition. 


TOPICS INCLUDE:

·  Introduction to Reloading and Reloading Safety

·  Centerfire Cartridge Components

·  Using Reloading Manuals and Reloading Data

·  Metallic Cartridge Reloading Equipment Overview

·  The Metallic Cartridge Reloading Process

·  Hands-On Cartridge Reloading 

·  Course Review


PREREQUISITES

There are no prerequisites for taking this course. Attendees need to bring a lunch, snacks, notepad and writing utensil, safety glasses and a serviceable handgun chambered in 9mm. 

Everything else (equipment, components, tools, etc.) will be supplied by the instructor.


ATTENDEES WILL RECEIVE:

·  Ten rounds of reloaded centerfire ammunition

·  Course completion certificate.

Course Details

License to Carry Course (LTC)

Welcome and Thanks for signing up to attend the Department of Public Safety (DPS) License to Carry Course hosted by One in the Chamber Sports Range.


We want your LTC course to be effective and as safe as possible, to assist us with this please come to the range ready with:

  • Fully functional semi-automatic handgun or revolver .22LR caliber or above. (firearms are available to rent)
  • Eye and Ear Protection. (available for purchase)
  • Footwear that entirely covers both feet.
  • At least 50 rounds of commercially produced ammunition.
  • Be prepared to provide a lunch as we will have a “working lunch” for this course.


Topics to be covered in class:

  • Legal Requirements for an LTC
  • Texas Law Pertaining to the Use of Force/Deadly Force
  • Non Violent Dispute Resolution - Situational Awareness and Mental Preparation for Conceal/Open Carry
  • Safe Handling and Proper Storage of Firearms


Qualifying at the range:

  • Students must qualify at 3, 7 and 15 yards (50 rounds are used for the qualification)

DPS Handgun Licensing Information

NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course

FOR THE COURSE YOU WILL NEED TO BRING:

  • Functional handgun either revolver or semi-automatic
  • You can use a .22LR or higher in caliber.
  • Make sure to bring at least 60 rounds of ammunition.
  • The pistol range is outdoors so you may want to bring some headgear.
  • Bring eye and hearing protection (if you wear prescription glasses these will work as eye protection)
  • Bring something to write with and write on.
  • We will have a working lunch so please bring a lunch.


Short Description:
At One in the Chamber Sports Range the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience.

Course topics include:  

  • gun safety rules 
  • proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
  • ammunition knowledge, pistol selection and storage
  • shooting fundamentals
  • pistol inspection and maintenance
  • marksmanship and shooting range safety


Qualifying at the range:

  • Students must qualify at 10, 15 and 20 feet. (60 rounds are used for qualification)
